Disney (DIS) stock price today sits at $104.63 as of 09:51 (GMT+8) / 01:51 UTC on 7 August 2026, per the Vantage DIS CFD feed, holding steady on the latest 15-minute candle after a rally that has caught more than a few traders off guard.

If you have been watching Walt Disney stock from the sidelines, the rally has drawn increased market attention. The stock has added more than 5% since Wednesday, when Disney’s fiscal third-quarter results beat Wall Street’s profit estimates. [1]

No Disney stock forecast here, just what the chart is showing and the levels traders are watching.

Disney stock chart: what the 15-minute setup is showing

On the Disney stock chart, the latest 15-minute candle printed an open of $104.63, a high of $104.73, a low of $104.25 and a close of $104.63, down a rounding-error $0.01, on volume of 86.64K, per the TradingView setup used for this analysis.

Price has cleared both moving averages tracked on the chart: the legend lists the 50-period MA at 98.74 and the 200-period MA at 102.28, with the 200-period MA now sitting well below spot after price gapped through it overnight, marked at 104.26.

This move looks abrupt because it was. DIS spent most of late July grinding sideways in the mid-90s to high-90s before jumping sharply higher around 5 August and clearing both moving averages in a single session.

The stock has maintained its post-earnings gains since. The RSI (14), also per the TradingView setup used for this analysis, sits at 71.61 with its moving-average overlay at 69.82, inside overbought territory. The chart shows two earlier RSI dips into the 20s in late July that both preceded rebounds of a similar shape, for context.

The earnings beat behind today’s Disney stock news

Disney reported fiscal third-quarter results on 5 August 2026, and it was a clean beat. [2] Adjusted earnings came in at $2.06 a share, ahead of the roughly $1.86 Wall Street had pencilled in and up from $1.61 a year earlier. [2] Revenue rose 7% year on year to $25.25 billion, a touch below the roughly $25.4 billion analysts had modelled, although investors largely overlooked the modest revenue miss. [2] On a GAAP basis, net income was $2.64 billion, or $1.51 a share, down from $5.26 billion, or $2.92 a share, a year earlier. [2]

Management reaffirmed guidance for double-digit adjusted EPS growth across fiscal 2026 and 2027, [3] alongside a raised fiscal 2026 share repurchase target of at least $9 billion, up from $8 billion previously. [1] Experiences and streaming were named the main drivers of sales growth, [5] the two bright spots this year.

CEO Josh D’Amaro noted that management continued to lean into buybacks, framing the shares as undervalued at current levels. [6] Investors welcomed the results, with the stock closing 3.65% higher at $101.76 on 5 August, its strongest session in months, and has extended those gains into this week’s trading. [7]

Several additional developments also supported investor sentiment. Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivered the biggest domestic (North American) opening weekend in box-office history, surpassing Avengers: Endgame on that specific measure, though Endgame retains the all-time global opening record.

The milestone has been linked to broader optimism around Marvel-related franchises, although Sony rather than Disney distributed the film. [8] Disney also confirmed on its earnings call that it is exploring a free, ad-supported streaming tier, noting Super Bowl advertising inventory has already sold out. [4] A new TikTok partnership will bring fan-made short-form videos featuring Disney characters into Disney+, aimed at younger audiences. [7]

Sell-side reaction has been constructive. Wells Fargo lifted its price target on DIS to $132 from $125, keeping an Overweight rating, and Barclays raised its target to $115 from $110, also Overweight. [7] Even so, shares remain down roughly 17% over the trailing 12 months, a reminder this rally follows underperformance rather than erasing it. [6]

Levels to watch and risk considerations for DIS stock today

As of the 09:51 (GMT+8) cut-off, the 200-period MA at 102.28 and the 50-period MA at 98.74 mark the levels traders are watching on the downside, with the session low of $104.25 the more immediate reference point. On the upside, the session high of $104.73 is the nearest marker, with the 52-week high near $119.78 further out.

RSI above 70 points to stretched short-term momentum, not a directional forecast, and stretched momentum corrects sideways just as often as it corrects down.

Given how fast this move has developed, Stop Loss placement is worth revisiting for anyone tracking DIS intraday as part of a broader risk management approach. A Stop Loss limits losses to a planned size; it does not remove the risk of loss, and gaps around news events can move price through a level before an order fills.

DIS share CFDs are also traded with leverage, which cuts both ways: it can magnify losses as easily as gains relative to the capital committed. Position sizing relative to account equity is worth revisiting given the volatility this stock has shown this week. Traders looking to act on any of this can do so through Vantage’s share CFD platform, where DIS is available alongside other major US names.

RISK WARNING: CFDs are complex financial instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should ensure you fully understand the risks involved and carefully consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money before trading.
