Vantage is a global, multi-asset broker with a team of in-house writers and market analysts who produce educational and insightful trading content for traders of all levels.

Meta stock price today sits at $591.91 on the Vantage META CFD, as of 04:47 (UTC) on 10 August 2026, or 12:47 (GMT+8). That single figure undersells the month Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) has actually had. In the space of about two weeks, the stock fell to a fresh 52-week low and then clawed back almost all of it.

Not many mega-caps manage a round trip like that without a stock split or a scandal attached, and Meta Platforms stock has had to absorb an earnings miss, softer-than-expected forward revenue guidance, heavy AI infrastructure spending and fresh legal pressure.

This is a Meta stock analysis, not a Meta stock forecast or a Meta stock price prediction. What follows is a straightforward read of the Meta stock chart on the TradingView setup used for this analysis, the levels traders are watching, and the Meta stock earnings and legal headlines that have made the stock one of the more closely watched large-cap stories on the Nasdaq this month.

  • Meta stock fell from around $595 before Meta’s 29 July 2026 earnings release to a 52-week low near $520 in early August, then rebounded to trade near $592, still beneath both its 50-period and 200-period moving averages on the meta stock chart.
  • Meta Platforms stock earnings for Q2 2026 showed revenue up 28% year over year to $60.80 billion, while free cash flow fell 91% to $784 million as quarterly capital expenditure reached $31.08 billion.1
  • A New Mexico court ordered Meta to pay an additional $567 million over youth-safety concerns on 6 August 2026, bringing Meta’s combined financial liability in the New Mexico case to $942 million, even as some analysts flagged AI infrastructure spending as a longer-term opportunity rather than only a cost.5,6

Meta stock price today: the month in one chart

The meta stock chart on the TradingView setup used for this analysis runs on the four-hour timeframe from January through August 2026, and the last seven weeks are where the real drama sits. Heading into Meta’s second-quarter earnings on 29 July 2026, the stock had been marking time near $595 to $599, already sitting below both key moving averages after a mid-July rally had run out of road.

The earnings release did the damage. Meta beat on revenue but missed on profit, posting earnings per share of $6.18 against the roughly $7.17 to $7.19 that analysts had pencilled in.2 Its $61 billion to $64 billion Q3 revenue guidance, a $62.5 billion midpoint, also came in below the roughly $63 billion analysts had been expecting.10

Shares fell 7.95% in the very next session, closing at $539.03 on 30 July 2026, on a day when the wider Nasdaq Composite was actually higher.1 The divergence underscored how strongly the market was reacting to Meta-specific earnings, guidance and spending concerns rather than simply following the broader Nasdaq.

It kept sliding from there. By 5 to 6 August 2026, the Vantage META CFD had touched a fresh 52-week low near $520, with commentary at the time noting the stock was down roughly 11% for the year.9 Miss a week of Meta stock news in early August and you would have come back to a very different chart.

Then came the snap-back. On 3 August 2026, Meta shares rebounded sharply toward $593 amid a broader technology-market rally, the Nasdaq Composite gained 2.1% and the S&P 500 1.5% that session, and more constructive commentary on the economics of its AI infrastructure spending, including a Morgan Stanley view.3,7 That recovery has largely held into this analysis, with the Vantage META CFD trading near $591.91 at the cut-off above, and an overnight reference level of $593.56 on the same TradingView setup.

The 14-period RSI on that setup reads 49.37, essentially back at the neutral midpoint after dropping into the low 20s at the worst of the sell-off, and it now sits above its own moving average of 41.41. Read that as a description of where momentum currently sits on the meta stock chart, not as a signal for what happens next.

Key levels on the meta stock chart

The table below sets out the zones the market is watching on the Vantage META CFD. These are reference levels drawn from the chart, not trade signals, and none of this is a meta stock price prediction, just the zones the chart itself is pointing to.

META~$520 / ~$580$608.97 (50-period MA) / $614.29 (200-period MA)Price has rebounded off the sub-$520 area and is approaching the moving-average cluster from below

The sub-$520 area marks the early-August 52-week low and is the closest reference point on the downside. Above current levels, the $580 zone was part of the pre-earnings consolidation area and is the first zone the market has been retesting on this rebound.

Further up, the 50-period and 200-period moving averages, at $608.97 and $614.29 respectively on the TradingView setup used for this analysis, sit close enough together to act as one cluster. A sustained move above that zone would bring the pre-earnings mid-July high near $684 back into focus, though that is a long way from where Meta stock trades today.

What’s driving meta stock earnings and meta stock news this month

meta stock news today

Two threads have shaped meta stock earnings and meta stock news this month, pulling in opposite directions.

The AI spending debate

Meta’s Q2 capital expenditure of $31.08 billion ate up nearly all of the $31.86 billion the company generated from operations, and management raised the low end of its full-year capex guidance to $130 billion to $145 billion.1 The heavy capex outlay was the main mechanical reason free cash flow fell 91% to $784 million, while the scale of AI infrastructure spending became a key concern for investors.

The pushback has come from sell-side research. Morgan Stanley pointed to Meta’s roughly 3.6 billion daily active people across its apps as a platform for new revenue, including the idea of renting out spare AI computing capacity to outside companies.8 Separately, reports surfaced that Meta is in early talks to rent AI compute to Anthropic, which would be a genuinely new revenue line if it materialises.4 Neither is confirmed revenue, both remain reported talks and analyst framing, not company guidance.

The legal and regulatory overhang

On 6 August, a New Mexico court ordered Meta to pay a further $567 million into an abatement fund tied to a youth-safety case, adding to the $375 million jury award from March and bringing Meta’s combined financial liability in the New Mexico case to $942 million.5,6 The ruling also forces operational changes for under-18 users in New Mexico: hidden like counts, overnight notification pauses, and a monthly usage cap.5

Meta’s Q2 results included $2.4 billion of charges related to legal proceedings, and more youth-safety litigation is still working through courts elsewhere in the US.

As for what is next, Meta had not confirmed a Q3 2026 earnings date as of this analysis. Based on the company’s usual reporting cycle, expect it in late October, but treat that as a placeholder until Meta says otherwise.

For more on the earnings breakdown, see Vantage’s Meta stock outlook and the 27 July Meta daily analysis.

Risk framing: Stop Loss and leverage

A stock that can drop to a 52-week low and rebound most of the way back within about a week is not behaving like a quiet, sleepy blue chip right now, and standard short-term range assumptions have been less reliable in this environment. That makes how risk is managed around the levels above, including Stop Loss discipline and overall exposure to a single earnings-driven move, particularly important.

CFDs, including the Vantage META CFD, are leveraged products. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses relative to the capital committed, in either direction, and this applies regardless of which way the market subsequently moves. Position sizing relative to account equity is worth a second look given the volatility Meta stock has shown this month, particularly around scheduled data such as the next earnings release.
