ASX 200 Continues to Find Buyers on Dips
- Australia kicks off the week positively.
- Tariff wars continue to be the main focus.
- ASX 200 is up for the day, pressuring a major resistance at all-time highs.
During Monday’s session, the ASX 200 showed strength once again to push toward a potential breakout. The 8,500 level remains a key area of interest, drawing significant attention from traders. However, as always, external factors will play a major role in shaping the market’s next move.

Woolworths Group Limited (WOW)
Woolworths gained 27c on Monday, closing right at the AU$30 level. Despite a 15.37% decline over the past year, the consumer staples giant continues to trade within a low-range consolidation. Volume remains stagnant, but the upcoming earnings report on 26 February could act as a catalyst, with analysts expecting earnings of AU$0.633 per share and revenue of A$35.96 billion. The key question now is whether this consolidation signals accumulation ahead of a potential breakout.

James Hardie Industries Plc (JHX)
James Hardie was down 1.39% on Monday as the materials giant continues to see a lot of noise. While the stock is down 10.21% over the past year, it has gained 5.74% in the last month, potentially prompting caution among traders ahead of the 18 February earnings report. Technical traders will be closely monitoring the 50-day and 200-day EMAs, which are positioned just below current levels.
Origin Energy Ltd (ORG)
Origin Energy rose 1.20% on Monday as the utilities giant continues to recover from last year. While the stock is up over the past year, it has dropped just over 9% in the last month, raising questions about whether it can establish solid support. The AU$10 level appears to be attracting interest, though the stock remains just below the 200-day EMA. Adding to market uncertainty, the next earnings report will be released this Thursday, with an estimated earnings per share of AU$0.556 and revenue of AU$8.82 billion. For now, the stock seems to be stabilising after its recent decline.
Northern Star Resources Ltd (NST)
Northern Star Resources was up 0.51% on Monday as the materials giant continues to show strength. NST has gained 34.39% over the past year, and 7.80% in the last month. The AU$1850 level remains a key resistance area, but the stock has shown notable resilience. Volume is slightly elevated, suggesting continued interest from traders and the bullish momentum appears intact for now.
