Vantage Updated Tue, 2025 March 25 08:37
  • ASX 200 remains positive but continues to underperform other indices.
  • Australian economic data shows signs of improvement.
  • Global indices continue to rally.

The ASX 200 saw a slight rally on Monday, hovering just above the AU$7,900 level, a key area that has previously acted as both support and resistance. Global indices are trending higher and the question now is whether Australia will follow suit. Despite recent improvements in Australia’s economic data, the ASX 200 remains an underperformer compared to global markets. Given the recent sharp sell-off, traders may be hesitant to take on large positions just yet.

Woolworths Group Ltd. (WOW)

Woolworths saw a slight pullback on Monday, though this should be viewed in the context of Friday’s sharp rally. Concerns over potential punitive actions for grocery price gouging proved to be unfounded, as the inquiry produced no major red flags. Despite this, Woolworths remains down 8.94% year-to-date, with Monday’s dip of 1.67% marking a minor retracement. The key question now is whether value hunters see this as a buying opportunity or if further downside remains.

Aristocrat Leisure Ltd (ALL)

Aristocrat Leisure gained 1.80% on Monday, clawing back some of the steep losses from the past month. Despite recent volatility, ALL remains up an impressive 53.21% over the past year. The stock has bounced off the key 200-day EMA, raising the question of whether the broader uptrend can hold. Key resistance sits at AU$70, an area that has previously acted as a crucial level and now aligns with the 50-day EMA. With earnings set for May 15, investors will be watching closely to see if momentum can continue.

Transurban Group (TCL)

Transurban Group dropped 2.63% on Monday in a session marked by heightened volatility. While price swings have intensified, the stock remains within its established range between AU$12.40 support and AU$14 resistance. Adding to the uncertainty, Transurban announced potential new partnerships in Georgia, a key market for the company. With volume surging, the increased activity suggests that a larger breakout move could be on the horizon.
